Text Box: Putting Creativity and Readability into your Publications

Objectives:

 

At the end of the workshop, participants should:

· be able to lead an editorial committee to produce professional publications that the school can be proud of.

have adequate knowledge about design, commissioning, editing, proof-reading, and how to communicate with printers and production houses.

Methodology:

 

The workshop comprises lectures, group discussions, hands-on exercises, and critiques of published newsletters and magazines.

Who Should Attend:

 

1. Teachers who are in charge of school publications and all those interested in the intricacies of the publishing process.

2. Principals and department heads who are advisors to their school publications will also benefit from the seminar

 

TAN CHEE TEIK has more than 25 years’ experience in academic publishing, journalism, sub-editing, technical writing and print production. He is managing director of Surwin Associates. He edits the two official publications of the Singapore Institute of Management, SIM, namely, Singapore Management Review and Today's Manager.

 

Besides conducting writing seminars for SIM, he runs programmes for RMIT University and the Singapore Book Development Council.
