Text Box: The main purpose of this workshop is to demonstrate to participants how what is now called the Model Method in primary mathematics can be used to develop students' understanding of fundamental mathematics concepts and their proficiency in solving word problems in primary mathematics.

In particular, participants will learn about common difficulties students in different age groups have and ways to help them overcome these.

Through the construction of a pictorial model or a diagram to represent the known and unknown quantities and their relationships in a problem, students can gain a better understanding of the problem and develop their ability in mathematical thinking and problem solving.

This approach should provide a strong foundation for the learning of mathematics from the primary to the secondary level. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask what questions they may have in using the model method of solving mathematics word problems.
